Chandra has worked in GCC/UAE for over 13 years’ and has 19 years’ global experience in CXO (CFO, Director) level roles working for large diversified conglomerates spanning Fund raising (Debt / Equity / Mezz), Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Strategy, Private Equity investments/ Exits (Buy-side), Business Development. He has strong qualifications in developing and implementing finance & management controls/ processes in addition to proactive cash flow/ liquidity management.
Chandra has advised on capital structures, arranged capital raisings (incl. debt raising/ refinancing), negotiated debt restructurings and developed complex financing options. Chandra is a highly accomplished, results-driven senior executive with extensive experience covering capital raising, debt restructuring/ refinancing, M&A, private equity investments/exits, business strategy and cash flow management across Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe & USA across sectors – Financial Services, Cement, Fiberglass, Real estate, F&B.
He has previously held senior finance positions at Sobha Group (UAE), Binani Industries (India/ UAE), Dubai Group (UAE), National Bank of Dubai (UAE), KPMG (Kuwait), Ernst & Young (India) and Arthur Andersen (India).
During his career, he has worked on deals/fund raising worth ~ US$ 2 Bn. Some of the milestone completed transactions include, refinancing (with additional top up) US$ 450 Mn debt, corporate funding of US$ 170 Mn & project debt of US$ 78 Mn for Sobha Group in one of the most difficult economic situations, acquisition debt refinancing of US$ 270 Mn for European fiberglass business of Binani Industries, deployment of US$ 500 Mn (over 4 transactions) & sale of 2 of these investments for US$ 715 Mn (purchase price of US$ 320 Mn) and divestment of ~US$ 500 Mn non-core assets at Dubai Group, merger between National Bank of Dubai & Emirates Bank International (one of the biggest merger in Middle East). Apart from the above, Chandra has also worked on equity dilution at corporate/project level at Sobha Group & equity dilution for Binani Cements. He has also worked on listing process for number of companies.
Furthermore, Chandra also has extensive debt restructuring experience with Dubai Group (US$ 10 Bn), Binani (US$ 500 Mn) & as a consultant for a textile group in India (US$ 1 Bn).
Chandra possesses strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with all levels of staff & management and holds a Post Graduate Degree in Finance from T. A. Pai Management Institute, India and a Bachelor of Technology – Civil degree from National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India.
